The Association of Certified Sanctions Specialists (ACSS) is the original organization dedicated exclusively to serving sanctions and export controls professionals worldwide. We deliver best-in-class training, offering the CSS and CXS credentials and fostering a dynamic, global community of sanctions and export controls professionals.

Beyond traditional country-based measures, sanctions can be targeted against particular individuals, vessels or entities — legal measures that restrict or prohibit trade and financial transactions with specified targets. Targeted sanctions have become far more common over the past two decades.

Sanctions can be either unilateral (e.g. issued by United Kingdom, United States), or multilateral (e.g. issued by United Nations Security Council, or European Union).
The Association of Certified Sanctions Specialists offers examinations that address knowledge and skills common to all sanctions and export controls professionals in varied employment settings, including financial institutions, international corporations, law firms, consulting companies, government, and other trades and businesses. Upon successfully passing one of our exams, participants will receive a credentials as a “Certified Sanctions Specialists” or “Certified Export Controls Specialist”.
